SAU Celebrates Dr. Seuss Day in Celebration of His Birthday and Read Across America

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, the Saint Augustine’s University Peer Mentors, Daughters of SAU (DOSA) and The Prezell R. Robinson Library hosted Dr. Seuss Day, a celebration of his birthday in conjunction with Read Across America. On this day children from the community dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters and came to hear about a Fox in Socks, Sam I Am’s Green Eggs in Ham or even to hear a Who with Horton! There was also face painting, lots of games, crafts and snacks! Angelique Rand, Peer Mentor advisor stated ” What better way to foster a love of reading with the children of our community. Our students took pride in reading and spending time with the children. This exposes them to higher learning early on.” Each child was given a goodie bag filled with Dr. Seuss and SAU takeaways. Special thanks to the student volunteers, DOSA mentors and library staff.
