This summer, Davana Excell, a senior majoring in mass communications from Miami, Fla., had an opportunity to intern with WAOK/WVEE V-103 The Peoples Station CBS Radio in Atlanta.

“Radio is my passion,” Excell said. “I was blessed and honored when I got the chance to intern with the #1 radio station in Atlanta.”

Part of Excell’s responsibilities included working on the marketing and promotions team, handling off-site promotions, remotes and live broadcasts and assisting in the station’s office performing administrative duties.

Excell is cohost of a student radio show titled Lounge 22 on the university’s radio station WAUG Power 750 AM. Through the genre of R&B music, Lounge 22 is a show that aims to clear the thoughts and worries of days past and bring back the sweet memories of the old. Aside from the music, Lounge 22 offers talk about different relationship topics.
